Aldi are a certified member of the Origin Green Programme

Emphasising its commitment to pursuing sustainable business practices, Aldi has signed up to the Origin Green sustainability charter and developed a comprehensive sustainability plan that sets out key sourcing, health and nutrition, social responsibility, waste emissions and energy targets.

Aldi has outlined clear targets which will be independently verified by Mabbet on an ongoing basis.

Established in 2012, Bord Bia’s Origin Green is the world’s first national food sustainability programme. It brings together national government, food producers and food retailers to achieve the common purpose of improving the sustainability of Ireland’s food production system. Many of the Irish suppliers Aldi partners with have committed to the programme also.

  

Some of our Key targets:

Change below to - By 2025, we will have 30% of our own brand plastic packaging to be made from recycled content, no virgin plastic (baseline 2020) - By 2027, 85% of our total own brand food and drink sales will be from healthier products. -100% cocoa used in our own label chocolates, biscuits and seasonal confectionary products is to be certified as being from sustainable sources. -100% all own label food and non-food products contain sustainably sourced Palm oil. - We will reduce operational food waste tonnage by 25% by the end of 2027. -Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions, by 15.75% between 2022 and 2027.

  

Origin Green unites the government, the private sector and food producers through the Irish Food Board, Bia Bora.
