Super easy beef patties with caramelised red onion and melted cheese on toasted buns.
550g lean steak mince
1 x large red onion
40g salted butter
8 x slices mature cheddar cheese
1 x pack 4 brioche burger buns
Sunflower oil
50g mayonnaise
25g tomato ketchup
10g English mustard
15g Brown sauce
5ml soy sauce
Sea salt and black pepper
Divide the minced steak into 8 portions and roll into balls – approx. 70g each.
Put in the fridge for 30 mins to chill.
Mix together the mayo, mustard, ketchup, brown and soy sauce in a small bowl.
Toast the cut sides of the buns.
Peel and slice the red onion.
Melt the butter in a frying pan and fry the onion till brown and caramelized.
Heat some oil in a large heavy based frying pan.
Add the meatballs (you may have to do this in two batches, depending on the size of your frying pan).
As the meatballs are cooking smash them flat with a spatula – cook for about 5 mins each side – till brown and crispy – season with some salt and pepper.
Top each one with a slice of cheese – grill till just melted.
Spread the sauce over the toasted burger buns.
Serve each bun filled with two cheese topped burgers and some fried red onions
