Sweet heart-shaped vanilla biscuits topped with icing and romantic messages.
350g Plain Flour
150g Unsalted Butter
150g Caster Sugar
1 Medium Egg
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
250g Icing Sugar
2-3 tbsps. Cold Water
1-2 drops Pink Food Colouring
8cm Round Cutter
Pre-heat the oven to 170°C Fan/Gas Mark 5.
Beat the butter and sugar together until fully combined and smooth.
Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix, then add in the flour and mix until you have formed a dough.
Lightly flour a flat surface and roll out to approx. 3mm thick, then cut out 24 circles with the cutter.
Re-form the dough and roll again to create more biscuits.
Bake for 10-12 minutes until evenly golden then leave to cool on a wire rack.
Add water to the icing sugar and mix well to form a thick but smooth consistency.
Set aside 3 tablespoons of the icing in another bowl, then add the food colouring, mix, cover and leave for later.
Pipe or spoon the white icing on top of the biscuits, smooth, then leave to set.
When the white icing has hardened place the pink icing into a piping bag and pipe ‘Love Heart’ style messages on top of the biscuits.
Leave to set then serve.
