Phased Entry to Stores
  • A new traffic light entry system has been rolled out across 145 Aldi stores nationwide since June 15th. The system works by continuously counting the number of customers entering and exiting the store, showing a green light for capacity and a red light when capacity has been reached. Once the light goes red the doors to enter the store automatically close and will only re-open again when the next customer leaves the store. In line with Aldi’s previous commitments, priority access remains in place for frontline workers and older / vulnerable people, and these people are encouraged to go to the front of any queue, with all other customers asked to continue to respect this.

  • It will remain in place for as long as it is necessary to guarantee recommended social distancing is maintained.
  • A limited number will be allowed into a store at any time, depending on the size of the store.
  • We will accommodate all customers that arrive at our store before closing time, which is 10pm Monday - Friday, and 9pm Saturday and Sunday.
  • Yes. Clear markings have been introduced showing where customers must stand and the distance they must keep when queuing. Further, new queuing canopies across 21 of our stores have been put in place to shelter customers from adverse weather conditions
